The 19th Century has been mostly productive in Orientalist paintings. This artistic trend featured Orient colors and landscapes before the era of photography.

Orientalist painting: a witness to life

Orientalist painters inspired by the Maghreb, Turkey and the Middle East, depict scenes of oriental way of living: harem scenes, hunting, fighting and daily life scenes, street happenings and typical landscapes such as deserts, oases or towns.
