Mosaic is the art of creating a decorative design with inlaid ceramic, glass, marble... tesserae.

Ceramic tile murals, fresco or mosaic tiling?

A mosaic mural can be set in the house or in the garden. For the interior decor a fresco will be preferred, which will blend in the kitchen or bathroom decor. To decorate a wall in a garden, a swimming-pool, a public area, a ceramic tile mural will prove weather resistant. Mosaic tiles are available too, inlaid with identical tonality tesserae, which are quite easy to lay.

Ceramic used as tesserae for a mosaic

Mosaicists use a wide variety of tesserae which they cut themselves: marble, ceramic, glass, enamel, gold... They are chosen for their colours and weather resistance (sun, rain...). Either inspired by antique or contemporary designs, the artist will create his own original and custom composition. Mosaicists do a highly skilled work with unlimited patience.
