Mosaïque de Ravenne - Giuliano Rossi et Lucia Caroli

We are mosaicists artisans graduated in Ravenna’s Istituto Statale d’Arte per il Mosaico 'Gino Severini'.
We realize handicraft and art mosaics for houses and gardens.
Our works are handmade and entirely planned and realized by us.
We also reproduct ancient Roman and Byzantine mosaics.
These handcrafted mosaics are different from those industrially made, since the tesserae are manually cut one by one, beginning from glass enamel pizza or marble slab, by mean of marteline and hardy. As a consequence, each tesserae is different from the others, so the same mosaic is very similar to another with the same subject, but never identical.
The technique used for the preparation of these mosaics follows the authentic Bizantine musive art, typical of Ravenna’s school.
The mosaic surface is not smooth but rough, however pleasant to the touch.
The irregular surface keeps all mosaics beauty because the tesserae reflect light into all directions.
The materials used are all the traditional ones, as marbles, stones, glasses paste and gold, but also all others, suggested by fantasy, as small objects, shells, metals, tiles, faience and more other.
The pictures of the mosaic herewith enclosed, give an idea of the global artwork, but the shades of the colours are not faithful to reality, since pictures do not repeat the lights and the beauty of the real vision.

Every mosaic is completed by its Certificate of Authenticity.
